...HEAVY MOUNTAIN SNOW AND COLDER TEMPERATURES ON THE PLAINS...

This hazardous weather outlook is for northeast and north central
Colorado.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Hazardous conditions with significant travel impacts are expected
for the mountains through tonight under heavy snow. Patchy light
snow is expected for the lower elevations, mainly this evening
and overnight, with accumulations of less than two inches,
favoring the eastern plains. Arctic air will intensify tonight
for eastern areas.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday

The mountains will have light snow Tuesday and Wednesday, mainly
over the ridges.

A cold arctic airmass will be in place across the plains through
Thursday morning. Highs will be in the single digits and teens,
with single digits above and below zero overnight. The coldest
temperatures will be in the northeast corner of the state where
wind chills as low as -30F are expected.

Another weather system will bring more snow to the mountains
Wednesday night and Thursday with a chance of snow across the
plains. A warming and drying trend will start Friday and continue
through the weekend.

...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING
TO 11 AM MST THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Very cold wind chills as low as 25 below expected.

* WHERE...Briggsdale, Fort Morgan, Limon, Southern Lincoln County,
  Sterling, and Akron.

* WHEN...From 10 PM this evening to 11 AM MST Thursday.

* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 25 below zero
  could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Unsheltered people will have a high risk of frostbite and
hypothermia. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and
neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use
generators or grills inside.

If you must go outside, dress in several layers of warm clothing,
including a hat, face mask, and gloves. Avoid prolonged outdoor
exposure.
