This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of central...east
central...south central and southeast Colorado.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Strong to severe storms are possible over the far eastern plains
this afternoon and evening. Main risk will be wind gusts up to 60
mph, but the strongest storms may produce hail the size of quarters,
as well. Non-severe thunderstorms are expected over the eastern San
Juan and La Garita Mountains.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday

Scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms are expected across
the mountains and eastern plains for Saturday and Sunday. One or
two of the storms may become strong to severe, especially on
Saturday, with the primary risks from these storms being
lightning, wind gusts up to 50 mph and hail up to one inch in

For Monday through Thursday, isolated to scattered afternoon and
evening thunderstorms will be mainly confined to the higher
terrain. The primary risks with any storms will be lightning and
gusty outflow winds, but a few of the stronger storms may also
produce small hail.


Weather conditions that meet reporting criteria for spotters will be
possible this afternoon and evening over the eastern plains.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has
issued the following...

WHAT...Air Quality Health Advisory for Ozone.

WHERE...Northwestern El Paso County. Locations include, but are
not limited to Colorado Springs, Manitou Springs, and Monument.

WHEN...400 PM Thursday August 13 to 400 PM Friday August 14

IMPACTS...Ozone concentrations will be elevated across the region
Thursday afternoon. However, higher ozone concentrations reaching
the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category are more likely for
the advisory area Friday afternoon. If ozone does reach the
Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category Friday afternoon, this
advisory will likely be extended through Friday evening.

HEALTH INFORMATION...Public Health Recommendations: Increasing
likelihood of respiratory symptoms and breathing discomfort in
active children and adults and people with lung disease, such as
asthma. Active children and adults, and people with lung disease,
such as asthma, should reduce prolonged or heavy outdoor exertion.
