Strong south to southwest winds of 40 to 60 mph will occur this afternoon with very low humidity values. Please do not do anything which could cause a spark and start a wildfire. Patchy areas of blowing dust are also possible given the strong winds. Although the chances are very low (less than 10 percent), there is the potential for an isolated thunderstorm near the Colorado- Kansas border late this afternoon and evening. If a thunderstorm should develop, it would rapidly become severe and produce damaging winds, large hail or a tornado. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday High fire danger is expected across the San Luis Valley and portions of our plains on Monday. Southwest winds gusting to 40 mph will be possible, along with relative humidity values in the single digits. Please avoid activities that could start a fire on Monday!
