* WHAT...Heat index values up to 96.

* WHERE...El Paso, Pueblo, and Canon City Vicinity/Eastern Fremont
  County.

* WHEN...Until 6 PM MDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.

This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of central...east
central...south central and southeast Colorado.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight

Increasing coverage of showers and thunderstorms is expected across
the area today. Storms will fire over and near the higher terrain
early this afternoon before pushing east. Main impact concerns will
be damaging outflow winds to around 60 mph and frequent cloud to
ground lightning. Weaker storms over the mountains will still be
capable of producing moderate to heavy rainfall, frequent
lightning, and outflow gusts to 45 mph.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday

Showers and thunderstorms will become more numerous from Tuesday
through the end of the work week. Showers and thunderstorms, along
with severe weather, are expected to return to the plains Tuesday
into Tuesday night. The primary threats Tuesday will be damaging
winds, large hail, and heavy rainfall with possible flash
flooding. Several more rounds of thunderstorms are expected into
the late week with a threat of flash flooding each day.
