New snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are expected, primarily focused across the higher elevations of the central mountains, eastern San Juan Mountains, and the northern Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Light snow will begin across El Paso County this afternoon, then a possible mixture of light snow, freezing drizzle and freezing fog will spread south across all of the eastern plains through the late afternoon and evening into the overnight hours. The focus area for this wintry mix will be along the eastern slopes of the Rampart Range, eastern Fremont and western Pueblo counties, and the eastern slopes of the Wet Mountains. Though new snow amounts are forecast to be light, generally under an inch, this mix of winter weather could lead to slick spots on roads and hazardous travel conditions. Extremely cold wind chill temperatures are expected overnight tonight across the eastern plains, especially across Kiowa, Bent and Prowers counties where wind chill readings of 20 below zero are forecast. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday Cold temperatures will persist for Sunday and Monday across the plains while periods of light snow continue across the mountain areas. Additional accumulations of 2 to 5 inches will be possible along the Continental Divide through Monday. Meanwhile, flurries, fog and light snow will continue off and on across the southeast plain where additional accumulations will remain under an inch. Breezy east winds at times will lead to wind chill readings as cold as 20 below zero across portions of the southeast plains Sunday morning and again Sunday night into Monday morning. Additional light snow will continue Monday night through Tuesday night across the mountains. Temperatures will begin a slow warm up across the plains through Tuesday with a more noticeable warm up for mid to late week for all areas. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
