This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of central...east
central...south central and southeast Colorado.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Strong and gusty winds, along with low relative humidity values,
will produce near critical fire weather conditions for the
southern I-25 corridor later this afternoon. Higher elevation snow
will begin over the eastern San Juan Mountains, and then fill in
over the northern Continental Divide by later tonight. Snow
accumulations throughout the night will be anywhere from a trace
to an inch.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday

Accumulating snow continues over the mountains along the
Continental Divide Tuesday and Tuesday night, with strong winds
producing areas of blowing and drifting snow. By the time snowfall
ends Tuesday evening, 3-6 inches of accumulation is possible,
mainly over the higher peaks of the eastern San Juans, the La
Garitas and the Sawatch Range. The remaining mountains and
interior valleys will see a mix of rain and snow showers, with
some light accumulations over the higher peaks of the Sangre de
Cristo Range. Some snow will also be possible Tuesday night over
the Palmer Divide and Raton Mesa, accompanied by strong north
winds. On the plains, winds will become strong Tuesday afternoon,
with high fire danger and areas of blowing dust for many locations
along and east of Interstate 25. A cold front will then quickly
move through the plains Tuesday evening, with strong north winds
gusting over 50 mph possible behind the front until early
Wednesday morning.
