This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for southern Connecticut and
southeast New York.

.DAY ONE...This afternoon and tonight.

A frontal system will bring a couple of rounds of heavy downpours
and thunderstorms this afternoon into this evening. This will bring a
localized flash flood threat.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday.

No hazardous weather is expected at this time that would meet NWS
warning criteria.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation is not expected at this time.

...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 430 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
  rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Connecticut, including the following
  county, Fairfield and southeast New York, including the following
  counties, Rockland and Westchester.

* WHEN...Until 430 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 257 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    showers and thunderstorms approaching from the southwest.
    This will cause urban and small stream flooding.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected
    over the area. Localized higher amounts. Some of this may
    fall in as little as 20 minutes. This additional rain will
    result in minor flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Stamford, White Plains, Port Chester, Ossining, New Canaan,
    Rye, Tarrytown, Dobbs Ferry, Nyack, Greenwich, Harrison,
    Darien, Wilton, Scarsdale, Hawthorne, Orangeburg, Upper
    Nyack, Eastchester, Rye Brook and Valley Cottage.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
