...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 830 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Connecticut, including the following
  county, Fairfield and southeast New York, including the following
  counties, Putnam and Westchester.

* WHEN...Until 830 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 705 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in the advisory area.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 1.5 inches are expected
    over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
    flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Danbury, Peekskill, Southbury, New Canaan, Mount Kisco,
    Mahopac, Lake Carmel, Sherman, Brewster, Cold Spring,
    Newtown, Ridgefield, Bethel, Wilton, Brookfield, New
    Fairfield, Weston, Redding, Carmel and Bedford.

* Until 815 PM EDT.

* At 639 PM EDT, emergency management reported thunderstorms
  producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 3.5
  inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2
  inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already
  occurring.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
           producing flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Emergency management reported.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
           urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Stamford, New Canaan, Greenwich, Hawthorne, Pleasantville, Armonk
  and Thornwood.

  possible.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Connecticut, including the following
  areas, Northern New Haven and Southern Fairfield, and southeast
  New York, including the following areas, Bronx, Kings (Brooklyn),
  Queens, Richmond (Staten Island), and Southern Westchester.

* WHEN...Until midnight EDT tonight.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of urban, low
  lying, and flood prone locations, as well as along rivers, creeks,
  and streams.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - Numerous showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain are
    expected late this afternoon and this evening. Widespread
    rainfall of 1 to 2 inches and localized rainfall totals of up
    to 3 inches are possible, with rainfall rates of over 2
    inches per hour possible. Much of this could fall in only 3
    to 4 hours, causing isolated to scattered instances of flash
    flooding.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for southern Connecticut and
southeast New York.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

Please listen to NOAA Weather Radio or go to weather.gov on the
Internet for more information about the following hazards.

   Flood Watch.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain are possible in
the watch area this afternoon and evening. Rainfall rates of 2+
inches per hr are possible with any repetitive thunderstorm activity.
A widespread 1/2 to 1 1/2 inches of rainfall is likely with
localized rainfall totals of up to 3 inches possible. Much of this
could fall in only 3 to 4 hours, causing isolated to scattered
instances of flash flooding.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday.

No hazardous weather is expected at this time that would meet NWS
warning criteria.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation is not expected at this time.
