Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as jetties and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards, beach patrol flags and signs. Entering the surf is strongly discouraged. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don`t swim against the current. Boating conditions will remain poor to hazardous today as seas of 6 to 8 feet gradually subside. Small Craft Advisories are in effect for the offshore (20-60nm) Brevard county and Treasure Coast waters. Small Craft Should Exercise Caution across the rest of the local Atlantic waters for choppy 6 foot seas. .RIVER FLOOD IMPACT... The St. Johns River is slowly falling but remains in Moderate Flood Stage at Astor. A slow fall through Minor Flood Stage is occurring near Lake Harney and at Deland and Sanford. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday. Boating and surf conditions are forecast to remain poor to hazardous through the weekend which includes a High Risk of rip currents. Marine conditions are expected to become increasingly hazardous into next week. Onshore flow is expected with breezy conditions through the weekend before increasing with breezy to windy conditions forecast early next week. River flooding will continue along the middle Saint Johns River basin at Above Lake Harney, Astor, Deland, and Sanford for the foreseeable future. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
