...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 8 PM EDT FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 108 expected.

* WHERE...Dade, Walker, Catoosa, Pickens, Dawson, Banks,
  Madison, Oglethorpe and Wilkes Counties.

* WHEN...From 11 AM to 8 PM EDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses to occur.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young
children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circumstances.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent
rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone
overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North and Central Georgia.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight...

Hot and humid conditions have prompted a Heat Advisory for this
afternoon with heat index values around 105F.


.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday...

A heat advisory is in effect again for Friday afternoon with
temperatures again around 105F. An excessive heat watch has been
issued for parts of central GA for Saturday with forecasted heat
index values up to 110F in the afternoon.

Isolated thunderstorms return to north Georgia on Friday and
Central Georgia on Saturday. By Sunday isolated to scattered
afternoon thunderstorms will become more widespread. This trend
will continue into early next week. Any storms could become
strong with heavy rain, gusty winds and frequent lightning.
