The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flood advisory for...
  The island of Oahu in Honolulu County

* Until 915 PM HST

* At 611 PM HST, radar indicated areas of moderate to heavy rain
  developing over the Koolau Range. Rain was falling at a rate of 1
  to 2 inches per hour in this area, and stream levels are beginning
  to rise. Rainfall is likely to persist across the advisory area
  during the next few hours.

* Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to...
  Ahuimanu, Punaluu, Hauula, Waimanalo, Kailua, Maunawili, Kaneohe,
  Waikane, Kaneohe Marine Base, Waiahole, Kahaluu and Laie.


Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on
foot. Turn around, don`t drown.


This advisory may need to be extended beyond 915 PM HST if heavy rain

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* Kahoolawe, Kauai, Lanai, Maui, Molokai, Niihau and Oahu.

* Through Saturday afternoon

* A developing area of low pressure south of the state will spread
  deep moisture and unstable conditions across the smaller
  islands. Periods of heavy rainfall and possible thunderstorms
  may result in flash flooding.

* Rapidly rising water levels may result on area streams and
  significant flooding may occur for low lying and poor drainage


A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

You should monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take
action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
