This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for northwest Iowa and west
central Iowa.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

An Air Quality Alert remains in effect until 11 pm Tuesday. Smoke
particles may be hazardous for those with pre-existing health
conditions.

Showers and thunderstorm return late this evening, with the threat
for severe weather expected to remain low.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday.

Showers and thunderstorms continue through Wednesday. A few storms
could become strong to severe, with quarter size hail and gusts up to
60 MPH being the primary hazards.

* WHERE...Little Sioux River at Spencer.

* WHEN...Until early Friday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...At 10.0 feet, the right bank overflows, and minor
  flooding of the Spencer city park and some rural agricultural
  areas begins.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 7:15 PM CDT Monday the stage was 11.6 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
    ending at 7:15 PM CDT Monday was 11.8 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
    early Thursday afternoon and continue falling to 9.8 feet
    Saturday evening.

The Iowa DNR has issued an Air Quality Alert for the northernmost
four tiers of counties west of I-35 as well as the northernmost
tier of counties east of I-35 through 11 pm tomorrow. Smoke from
Canadian wildfires has entered the region from the north and fine
particulate levels at or above the national standard can be
expected. The DNR recommends that people avoid long or intense
outdoor activities, and take more breaks during outdoor activities
until air quality conditions improve. Members of sensitive groups
may wish to take additional precautions. Sensitive groups include
people with respiratory or heart disease, children, teenagers,
the elderly, and outdoor workers. This alert will expire at 11 pm
Tuesday
