This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of central Iowa.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight

Hot and humid today through Monday with afternoon heat index
values climbing to between 100 and 105 degrees. Thunderstorms are
possible this evening and overnight across northeast sections of
the area. If storms are able to develop, a few may become severe
containing damaging wind and hail.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday

The heat wave will continue Sunday and Monday with heat index
values likely in excess of 100 degrees. Thunderstorm chances
return late Monday and Monday night. Severe potential will be
refined in the coming days.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation may be needed across northeast portions of the
area should storms develop later this evening and tonight.

...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 8 PM
CDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 105 expected.

* WHERE...Much of western, central and southern Iowa.

* WHEN...From 1 PM this afternoon to 8 PM CDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Heat wave will continue through the weekend,
  with hot and humid temperatures expected over much of the area
  again on Sunday and Monday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of water, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Never leave
children or pets in vehicles.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.
