At 407 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Prairieburg, or
9 miles northwest of Anamosa, moving east at 45 mph.

         roofs, siding, and trees.

...A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 430 PM CDT FOR
NORTHEASTERN BENTON AND NORTHWESTERN LINN COUNTIES...

At 404 PM CDT, a severe squall line capable of producing both
tornadoes and extensive straight line wind damage was located along a
line extending from Cheney to near Wildcat Bluff Park to near
Newhall, moving east at 55 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
         shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage
         to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree damage is
         likely.

These dangerous storms will be near...
  Hiawatha, Robins, Center Point, Palo, Walker, Toddville,
  Lafayette, Spencers Grove, and Pleasant Creek State Recreation
  Area around 410 PM CDT.
  Cedar Rapids, Marion, Alburnett, and Troy Mills around 415 PM CDT.

This includes Interstate 380 between mile markers 25 and 48.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a

...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE...Portions of Illinois, including the following areas,
  Bureau, Carroll, Hancock, Henderson, Henry IL, Jo Daviess,
  McDonough, Mercer, Putnam, Rock Island, Stephenson, Warren and
  Whiteside, Iowa, including the following areas, Buchanan, Cedar,
  Clinton, Delaware, Des Moines, Dubuque, Henry IA, Jackson,
  Johnson, Jones, Lee, Linn, Louisa, Muscatine, Scott and
  Washington, and northeast Missouri, including the following area,
  Clark.

* WHEN...Through late tonight.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
  creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
  Low-water crossings may be flooded. Area creeks and streams are
  running high and could flood with more heavy rain.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - Recent rounds of heavy rain have resulted in saturated soils
    north of Interstate 80. South of Interstate 80, soils are
    quite moist.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

An Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) for severe weather remains in
place across the area for this afternoon and evening. Damaging
winds and tornadoes, some possibly strong, are the primary
threats. Localized flash flooding is also possible.

Southerly winds will gust to around 40 mph this afternoon prior to
the severe thunderstorm development.

Area rivers are experiencing flooding. Please see the latest Flood
Statements and Flood Warnings for details.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY

Much colder air will bring the potential for frost and freeze
conditions to parts of the area Saturday night and Sunday night.
