* WHAT...High temperatures warming into the upper 90s and triple
  digits Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon.

* WHERE...Central and eastern Washington. Much of the Idaho

* WHEN...From 11 AM Thursday to 8 PM PDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures in the day. Increasingly warm overnight
  temperatures by the weekend.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Friday and Saturday will likely be the
  hottest days of this heat event. Many lowland locations are
  expected to reach 100 degrees or more Friday and Saturday
  afternoon. The afternoon heat combined with unusually warm
  overnight temperatures Friday night and Saturday night will make
  it difficult for residents without air conditioners to control the
  build up of heat within their homes.


Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.




Air Quality Alert

Latah-Lewis-Nez Perce-
Including the cities of Moscow, Potlatch, Deary, Genesee, Juliaetta,
Kendrick, Kamiah, Craigmont, Nezperce, Winchester, Lewiston, Lapwai,
Peck, Culdesac, and Gifford

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has extended an
Air Pollution Forecast and Caution to notify residents of Latah,
Nez Perce, Lewis, Clearwater and Idaho Counties off the Nez Perce
Reservation of degraded air quality. Due to wildfire smoke health
impacts may occur. BURNING RESTRICTIONS ARE IN EFFECT. Air Quality is
forecast to remain in moderate to unhealthy due to regional wildfire
activity. The pollutant of concern is Fine Particulate Matter

Health Impacts and Recommended Actions: When air quality is unhealthy
for sensitive groups, sensitive persons* may experience health
effects and should limit prolonged or heavy exertion and limit time
spent outdoors. The general public is unlikely to be affected.

Woodstove Burning Restrictions: No Restrictions.

Outdoor Burning Restrictions: All outdoor open burning is prohibited
by Department of Environmental Quality in accordance with the rules
for the control of air pollution in Idaho.
