Elevated Flooding Risk. Limited Thunderstorm Risk. Sunday and Monday... Limited Thunderstorm Risk. DISCUSSION... Peak heat indices Wednesday afternoon are expected to be around 100 degrees. Thunderstorms are likely Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday evening, mainly across northern Illinois. There is the threat that some of the storms could become severe, posing a risk of damaging winds. In addition, thunderstorms will be capable of producing torrential downpours which could lead localized flash flooding. There will be periodic bouts of showers and thunderstorms Saturday through Monday. Any one of which could produce very heavy rainfall and flooding. High waves will cause dangerous swimming conditions at Lake Michigan beaches Thursday through Friday. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation will not be necessary through tonight.
