Gusty southeast winds between 25 to 35 mph may lead to periods of shallow blowing snow and significant drifting in open and rural areas this afternoon and evening, especially west and north of the Quad Cities. For late this afternoon into early tonight, a quick-hitting accumulating snow is expected, mainly north of I-80. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for counties along the Highway 20 corridor, from Dubuque and points to the east. This area has the highest chances for receiving a quick 1 to 3 inches of snow, that will be accompanied by gusty southeast winds around 30 mph and reduced visibilities to under a half mile. Late tonight into early Saturday morning, locations along and south of Interstate 80 may have a period of freezing drizzle leading to a thin glaze of ice. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY More mixed precipitation and snow is expected Saturday and Saturday night possibly lingering into Sunday morning, with some accumulations probable. Colder air will expand into the region Sunday night and persist into at least the middle of next week.
