CDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...South winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.

* WHERE...Central Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake IL, and Northern
  Cook Counties.

* WHEN...From 1 PM this afternoon to 9 PM CDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree
  limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles on west to east oriented roadways.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 1 PM
CDT MONDAY...

* WHAT...Snow and blowing snow expected. Total snow accumulations
  between 1 and 3 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.

* WHERE...De Kalb, La Salle, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake IL,
  McHenry, and Northern Cook Counties.

* WHEN...From 10 PM this evening to 1 PM CDT Monday.

* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
  likely become slick and hazardous. Additionally, the combination
  of snow and blowing snow will result in periods of reduced
  visibilities, which will make for hazardous travel at times. The
  hazardous conditions will impact the Monday morning commute. Gusty
  winds could bring down tree branches.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road

Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while
driving. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken
on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and
slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of north central
Illinois...northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.

Weather hazards expected...

  Significant Non-Thunderstorm Wind Risk.
  Limited Thunderstorm Risk...with an associated:
     Level 1 of 5 Tornado Risk.
     Level 2 of 5 Damaging Wind Risk...up to 70 mph.
     Level 1 of 5 Large Hail Risk...up to quarter size.
  Elevated Snow and Blowing Snow Risk late tonight.

DISCUSSION...

Strong to locally damaging southerly non-thunderstorm winds will
occur today with the strongest winds expected to occur near and
east of I-55.

Two rounds of thunderstorms are expected in the area today. The
first round will mainly affect locations west of I-55 late this
morning and early this afternoon and may carry a threat for hail.
The second round will affect a larger portion of the area late
this afternoon and early this evening. Damaging winds may occur
with this second round of storms, particularly in areas near and
east of I-55.

Rain will change over to snow late tonight. The greatest snow
accumulations and travel impacts are expected to occur west of a
LaSalle-Peru to Woodstock, IL line. Strong northwesterly winds
will also lead to blowing snow in open areas.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday.

Monday...
  Elevated Non-Thunderstorm Wind Risk.
  Limited Snow and Blowing Snow Risk.
Tuesday...
  Limited Snow Risk.

DISCUSSION...

Strong northwesterly winds, snow, and blowing snow will continue
through the day on Monday.

Another round of snow is likely to occur Tuesday night into
Wednesday.

  Spotters may be needed late this afternoon/early this evening.
