  Elevated Fire Weather Risk.
  High Swim Risk Lake Michigan Shore.

DISCUSSION...

Mild and dry conditions will lead to an elevated risk of fire
ignition and spread today. The breezy onshore winds will also
lead to a high risk for rip currents at Lake Michigan beaches late
this afternoon and into tonight.

...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM CDT THIS
AFTERNOON THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...

* WHAT...High wave action and dangerous currents expected at Lake
  Michigan beaches. Waves of 3 to 6 ft expected.

* WHERE...In Illinois, Lake IL, Northern Cook and Central Cook
  Counties. In Indiana, Lake IN and Porter Counties.

* WHEN...From 4 PM CDT this afternoon through late tonight.

* IMPACTS...Swimming conditions will be life threatening,
  especially for inexperienced swimmers. For information on swim
  advisories or bans at Chicago beaches: www. cpdbeaches. com.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain out of the water to avoid dangerous swimming conditions
and do not venture out onto piers, jetties, breakwalls, or other
shoreline structures.

...ELEVATED RISK OF FIRE IGNITION AND SPREAD TODAY...

The combination of a very dry airmass and increasingly breezy
northeasterly winds this afternoon will result in an elevated
fire weather threat. Fires that ignite in these weather conditions
can spread rapidly, making them hard to control. For this reason,
consider postponing any outdoor burning.
