Isolated thunderstorms will continue through this evening,
especially south of I-80. No severe weather is expected.

DISCUSSION...

Scattered severe storms are possible Wednesday afternoon with
damaging winds and damaging hail as the main threats. Flash
flooding may also occur where thunderstorms train.

High waves will cause dangerous swimming conditions at Lake
Michigan beaches Thursday through Friday.

There will be periodic bouts of showers and thunderstorms
Saturday through Monday. Any storm during this period may be
severe with damaging winds and flash flooding.

...AIR QUALITY ALERT NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT...

The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has issued an Air
Pollution Action Day for Wednesday July 16th for the greater Chicago
metropolitan area through Wednesday night.

A Chicago Area "Air Pollution Action Day" is declared when weather
conditions are such that widespread ozone and or particulate levels
are expected to be at or above the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups
(UGS) category of the Air Quality Index (AQI) for multiple days.
Ozone is expected to be the primary pollutant of concern.

Active children and adults, especially people with pulmonary or
respiratory disease such as asthma, should limit prolonged outdoor
activity.

Area residents are urged to reduce pollution levels. Air quality
forecasts, current air quality, and tips on how you can reduce your
emissions can be found at www.airnow.gov.
