DISCUSSION...

Strong to potentially damaging southwesterly winds are expected
today. The strongest winds are expected this morning, when gusts
of 50 to 60 mph are expected. The strong winds may also lead to
an elevated risk for fire spread.

Another wave of precipitation is expected to develop over most of
the area tonight. While it will begin as rain, the rain may
change over to a period of accumulating wet snow across parts of
northern IL late tonight into Sunday morning.

  winds 25 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.

  northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana.

* WHEN...For the first Wind Advisory, until 7 AM CDT /8 AM EDT/ this
  morning. For the High Wind Warning, from 7 AM CDT /8 AM EDT/ this
  morning to noon CDT /1 PM EDT/ today. For the second Wind
  Advisory, from noon CDT /1 PM EDT/ today to 5 PM CDT /6 PM EDT/
  this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines.
  Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult,
  especially for high profile vehicles. Gusty winds will blow around
  unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power
  outages may result.
