Illinois...northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana.

  Limited Thunderstorm Risk south of I-80.

DISCUSSION...

Isolated thunderstorms are possible this afternoon into this
evening, mainly south of I-80. No severe weather is expected.

  Elevated Thunderstorm Risk...with an associated:
     Level 2 of 5 Severe Thunderstorm Risk.
  Elevated Flooding Risk.
  Limited Excessive Heat Risk.

  High Swim Risk.
  Limited Flooding Risk south of I-80.
  Limited Thunderstorm Risk south of I-80.
Friday...
  High Swim Risk.
Saturday...
  Elevated Flooding Risk.

DISCUSSION...

Peak heat indices Wednesday afternoon are expected to be around
100 degrees.

Thunderstorms are likely Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday
evening, mainly across northern Illinois. There is the threat
that some of the storms could become severe, posing a risk of
damaging winds. In addition, thunderstorms will be capable of
producing torrential downpours which could lead localized flash
flooding.

There will be periodic bouts of showers and thunderstorms
Saturday through Monday. Any one of which could produce very
heavy rainfall and flooding.

High waves will cause dangerous swimming conditions at Lake
Michigan beaches Thursday through Friday.

Spotter activation will not be necessary through tonight.

...AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CDT TONIGHT...

The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has determined that an
Air Pollution Action Day will be declared for the greater Chicago
Metropolitan Area and is IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CDT TONIGHT.

An Air Pollution Action Day is declared when weather conditions are
such that widespread ozone and or particulate levels are expected to
be at or above the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category of the
Air Quality Index for multiple days.

Active children and adults, especially people with pulmonary or
respiratory disease such as asthma, should limit prolonged outdoor
activity.

Area residents are urged to reduce pollution levels. Air quality
forecasts, current air quality, and tips on how you can reduce your
emissions can be found at www.airnow.gov.
