Weather hazards expected... Limited Snow, Sleet, and Ice Accumulation Risk. DISCUSSION... Snow accumulations of up to 1 to 3 inches are possible in the area through tonight. In addition, a wintry mix may briefly be observed in some locations south of Interstate 80 this afternoon and evening. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday. Sunday... Limited Snow Risk. Sunday night through Friday morning... Elevated Excessive Cold Risk. DISCUSSION... Snow showers and flurries are expected to persist into Sunday. Snow accumulations are most likely to occur in northwest Indiana, where lake effect snow showers will lead to steadier snowfall rates. Bitterly cold temperatures are expected through the upcoming week with early morning minimum wind chills of -10 to -20 degrees. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... A band of lake effect snow will develop along the Wisconsin shore of Lake Michigan this evening, then swing southward across the northeastern Illinois and far northwestern Indiana shores after midnight. This band of snow looks to remain progressive, which should limit its duration at any given location across the far northeastern Illinois shore. Nevertheless, some light accumulations and slick travel may result in some localized areas near the lake into early Sunday morning. The lake effect band is expected to become focused across northwestern Indiana Sunday morning, before shifting east of the area Sunday afternoon. $$ KJB
