Missouri.

Dangerous heat and humidity will continue today across the region.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday

Dangerous heat and humidity is again forecast across the region on
Tuesday. Refer to the Heat Advisory for details.

Chances for thunderstorms will increase from northwest to
southeast late Tuesday into Tuesday night. Some of the storms may
produce heavy rain, which could lead to localized flooding. Refer
to the Flood Watch for details.

An isolated strong to severe thunderstorm with damaging wind
gusts cannot be ruled out Tuesday evening.

Additional chances for showers and thunderstorms will persist
Wednesday into Thursday morning.

Spotter activation cannot be completely ruled out late Tuesday
afternoon and evening.

...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY EVENING THROUGH WEDNESDAY
MORNING...

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, including the following
  areas, Edwards, Franklin, Hamilton, Jefferson, Wabash, Wayne IL
  and White and southwest Indiana, including the following areas,
  Gibson, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh and Warrick.

* WHEN...From Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
  creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
  Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - Multiple rounds of thunderstorms are possible that may lead
    to heavy rainfall late Tuesday night. Locally up to 2 to 4
    inches of rain is possible in the Flood Watch, with isolated
    higher amounts possible. This will lead to areas of flash
    flooding.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values of 105 to 110 degrees expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
  Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM CDT /9 PM EDT/ Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms
  may provide limited relief from the heat Tuesday afternoon for
  locations along and north of Interstate 64.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.
