The continued hot and dry conditions, coupled with rapidly drying near Autumnal vegetation, may lead to increased fire starts. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible this afternoon, with numerous showers and storms by late tonight. A few strong to severe storms with damaging winds are possible this afternoon into this evening. Other hazards include lightning and locally heavy rainfall. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday Numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms will continue Thursday into Thursday night. A few strong to severe storms are possible Thursday afternoon across mainly southeast Missouri, far west Kentucky and extreme southern Illinois.
