...FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
  possible.

* WHERE...All of southwest Indiana and portions of southern
  Illinois, southeast Missouri and northwest Kentucky.

* WHEN...Through Wednesday morning.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
  creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
  Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water
  crossings may be flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - A large area of showers and thunderstorms with torrential
    rains has moved south into southern Illinois this morning.
    The torrential rains have already resulted in flash flooding,
    and with multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms
    expected through tonight, additional flash flooding is likely
    to develop.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Illinois, southwest Indiana, western Kentucky, and southeast
Missouri.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Scattered to numerous thunderstorms will impact areas along and
north of Interstate 64 this morning. Locally heavy rain and minor
flooding issues will be the main impacts.

Dangerous heat and humidity will continue for much of the region
through early tonight. Refer to the Heat Advisory for more
details.

Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are forecast late this
afternoon through tonight. A few strong to severe thunderstorms
with damaging wind gusts are possible.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will produce heavy rainfall
tonight for parts of the area. Refer to the Flood Watch for more
details.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will produce heavy rainfall
through early Wednesday morning for parts of the area. Refer to
the Flood Watch for more details.

There is a chance of thunderstorms through much of the day
Wednesday. While no severe thunderstorms are forecast, some
thunderstorms may produce locally heavy rain.

EVENING...

* WHAT...Heat index values around 105 to 110 degrees.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
  Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM CDT /9 PM EDT/ this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Isolated to widely scattered showers and
  thunderstorms may provide periods of relief from the heat and
  humidity, mainly along and north of Interstate 64.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and
shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
