This hazardous weather outlook is for northwest...north central and
west central Missouri...as well as extreme eastern Kansas.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

 Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible this
afternoon as storms approach from the south. Some gusty winds and
isolated heavy rainfall is possible, but severe weather is not
expected.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday

Widespread storms are expected to form late Saturday afternoon over
NE KS and NW Missouri. Some of the storms may be strong to severe
with damaging winds being the main threat initially. These storms
will have high rainfall rates which could quickly lead to flash
flooding if an area gets multiple storms. These storms will slowly
track eastward leaving a widespread 3 to 4 inches of rainfall over
the area norther of I-70. This system will slowly move out of the
area starting with western Missouri late Sunday morning and all of
Missouri by Sunday evening.

Another round of storms are possible late Wednesday through Thursday
which could bring more severe weather and possible flooding concerns
back to the region.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive through flowing water. Nearly half of all flood
fatalities are vehicle related. As little as 6 inches of water may
cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Two feet of water will

The Flood Warning continues for
  The Missouri River at Atchison.
* from Saturday afternoon to Sunday September 29.
* At 10:46 AM Friday the stage was 21.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 22.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by Saturday afternoon and
  continue to rise to near 23.6 feet by Monday evening. The river
  will fall below flood stage early next Saturday morning.
* At 22.0 feet...Low-lying areas on the Missouri side of the river
  begin to flood.

...Torrential Rain Possible Saturday Night and Sunday...

.Anomalously high moisture values will be in place across the
region this weekend as a cold front sweeps through Saturday and
Sunday. Scattered storms may develop both today, tonight, and
through the day Saturday, but the focus for the torrential rain
that could result in flash flooding will be Saturday night
through the day Sunday, as the cold front moves through.

...FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY EVENING
THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of Kansas and Missouri, including the following
  areas, in Kansas, Atchison KS, Doniphan, Johnson KS,
  Leavenworth, Miami, and Wyandotte. In Missouri, Adair, Andrew,
  Atchison MO, Buchanan, Caldwell, Carroll, Cass, Chariton,
  Clay, Clinton, Cooper, Daviess, De Kalb, Gentry, Grundy,
  Harrison, Holt, Howard, Jackson, Johnson MO, Lafayette, Linn
  MO, Livingston, Macon, Mercer, Nodaway, Pettis, Platte,
  Putnam, Randolph, Ray, Saline, Schuyler, Sullivan, and Worth.

* From Saturday evening through Sunday evening

* Thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall are expected to develop
  by Saturday night across the watch area, persisting into the
  day Sunday. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches will be
  possible.

* Low-lying and flood-prone areas will be most susceptible to
  the dangers of flash flooding. Areas near rivers, creeks, and
  streams will likely become flooded during and immediately
  after heavy rainfall. Be very careful if driving at night as
  flood water are very hard to see.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
