PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Thunderstorm chances are expected to increase this evening across central Kansas, and persist through the night, mainly along and northeast of a line extending from Great Bend to Newton to Chanute. A few strong to severe thunderstorms are possible, capable of large hail and damaging winds. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday Thunderstorm chances will be present areawide Wednesday night, with a few strong to severe storms possible. Heat indices greater than 100 degrees are possible on Wednesday afternoon along the Kansas and Oklahoma border.
