This hazardous weather outlook is for northwest...north central and
west central Missouri...as well as extreme eastern Kansas.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

 Strong northwest winds will increase through the day to around 30
mph, with gusts approaching 50 mph at times, mainly along and north
of HWY 36. A wind advisory is in effect for northern Missouri through
7 pm.

Dry conditions will combine with the strong winds to bring high fire
danger. Any fires that form today will quickly burn out of control.
Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged Thursday.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday

Sub-freezing temperatures are expected Friday morning. A freeze
warning has been issued for counties generally along and south of HWY
36, where agricultural interests have been deemed critical.

Next chance for widespread rain with scattered thunderstorms comes
this weekend. Severe thunderstorms are not expected at this time.

...FREEZE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 2 AM TO 9 AM CDT
FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 28 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of east central and northeast Kansas and
  central, north central, northwest and west central Missouri.

* WHEN...From 2 AM to 9 AM CDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other
  sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor
  plumbing.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent
freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should
be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have
in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-
ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
