EVENING...

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for a portion of eastern Kentucky.

.DAY ONE...Tonight.

No hazardous weather is expected.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

Periods of heavy rainfall, including thunderstorms, are expected
this weekend, especially for Saturday and Saturday night. This could
lead to incidents of flash flooding and likely some river flooding.

Accumulating snowfall may occur next Tuesday night through Thursday.

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY
EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is likely.

* WHERE...Portions of east central, northeast, south central, and
  southeast Kentucky, including the following counties, in east
  central Kentucky, Bath, Elliott, Estill, Fleming, Menifee,
  Montgomery, Powell and Rowan. In northeast Kentucky, Johnson and
  Martin. In south central Kentucky, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski,
  Rockcastle, Wayne and Whitley. In southeast Kentucky, Bell,
  Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Harlan, Jackson, Knott, Knox, Lee, Leslie,
  Letcher, Magoffin, Morgan, Owsley, Perry, Pike and Wolfe.

* WHEN...From late tonight through Sunday evening.

* IMPACTS...Creeks and streams will likely rise out of their banks
  in many areas. Extensive flooding of creeks and rivers is possible.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - A powerful storm system is expected to bring periods of heavy
    rain to eastern Kentucky on Saturday into early Sunday.
    Widespread rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches are forecast,
    mostly falling within a 24-hour period on Saturday and
    Saturday night. Locally higher amounts approaching, or
    exceeding, 5 inches cannot be ruled out. The expected
    rainfall on top of soils saturated from recent precipitation
    and elevated flows on area streams and rivers are sufficient
    to cause high impact flash flooding and river flooding. Rock
    and mud slides will also be possible.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings and Flash Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to
flooding should prepare now and be ready to take action when a
warning is issued or flooding is observed.

...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in West
Virginia...Kentucky...

  Tug Fork River At Williamson affecting Martin, Mingo and Pike
  Counties.

.Heavy rain this weekend of 1 to 3 inches will result in minor
flooding along the Tug Fork River in and around Williamson.

For the Tug Fork River...Minor flooding is forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll
free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY MORNING TO LATE MONDAY
MORNING...

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Tug Fork River at Williamson.

* WHEN...From Sunday morning to late Monday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 29.5 feet, The railroad yard in Williamson is
  affected. Route 612 near Turkey Creek in South Williamson floods.
  Also, low areas next to the river outside the flood walls of
  Williamson West Virginia and South Williamson Kentucky are flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 11:00 AM EST Friday the stage was 15.3 feet.
  - Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage late Sunday
    morning to 29.3 feet Sunday evening. It will then fall below
    flood stage early Monday morning.
  - Flood stage is 27.0 feet.
  - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
    29.1 feet on 11/20/2003.
