...An area of heavy snow will affect northeastern Piscataquis...
southern Aroostook and north central Penobscot Counties...

At 1230 PM EST...An area of heavy snow across central Penobscot and
northern Washington Counties was moving north at 40 MPH.

Locations impacted include...
Presque Isle, Caribou, Houlton, Fort Fairfield, Patten, Mount
Katahdin, Clayton Lake, Ripogenus, Portage, Mapleton, Washburn, Mars
Hill, Hodgdon, Ashland, Easton, Sherman, Island Falls, Bridgewater,
Smyrna and Portage Lake.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 95 between mile markers 260 and 304.
 US Highway 1 between Orient and Presque Isle.
 State Highway 11 between Stacyville and Portage.

  * Winds in excess of 25 mph are possible with this area of heavy
  snow.

  * Visibilities will drop quickly to less than a quarter mile in
  this area of heavy snow.

  * Sudden and brief snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour are
  possible in this area of heavy snow.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EST THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...Snow and mixed precipitation expected. Total snow
  accumulations of 4 to 8 inches and ice accumulations of a light
  glaze expected. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.

* WHERE...Portions of Central Highlands, Far Eastern, Far
  Northern and North Woods Maine.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM EST this evening.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Areas
  of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility and
  cause localized hazardous travel. The hazardous conditions
  could impact the evening commute. Damage to trees and power
  lines is possible.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Expect slippery
roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
