The National Weather Service in Gray has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
  Androscoggin County in southwestern Maine...
  Northern Cumberland County in southwestern Maine...
  Southern Oxford County in western Maine...
  Northeastern Carroll County in northern New Hampshire...

* Until 915 PM EDT.

* At 616 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
  thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
  shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have
  fallen.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Lewiston, Auburn, Brunswick, Conway, Bridgton, Fryeburg, Mechanic
  Falls, Naples, Turner, and Topsham.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or
ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 645 PM EDT
FOR SOUTHEASTERN KENNEBEC...NORTHEASTERN YORK...SOUTH CENTRAL
OXFORD...SOUTHEASTERN ANDROSCOGGIN...LINCOLN...CUMBERLAND AND
SAGADAHOC COUNTIES...

At 612 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 9 miles northeast of Damariscotta to near Brunswick
to Hiram, moving southeast at 50 mph. This line of storms has a
history of damaging wind gusts. Winds may arrive well before the
rain arrives.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated and spotter confirmed.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to
         roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include...
Portland, South Portland, Biddeford, Brunswick, Westbrook, Bath,
Damariscotta, Topsham, Wiscasset, Naples, Cumberland, Saco, Gorham,
Falmouth, Kennebunk, Cape Elizabeth, Buxton, Freeport, Gray and
Hollis.

This also includes...
  Sebago Lake, Higgins Beach, Crescent Beach State Park, Scarborough
Beach State Park, and Reid State Park.
  Peaks Island, Long Island, Cushing Island, Cousins Island, and
Bailey Island.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 295 between mile markers 1 and 41.
 Interstate 95 between mile markers 29 and 67.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Wind damage with these storms will occur before any rain or
lightning. Do not wait for the sound of thunder before taking cover.
SEEK SHELTER IMMEDIATELY inside a sturdy structure and stay away from
windows.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

   Severe Thunderstorm Watch.

Scattered thunderstorms will impact the region this afternoon and
evening. Some storms may be severe with damaging winds, large hail,
and heavy rain.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday.

Heat index values will be in the lower 90s Thursday afternoon.

Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected Friday night and Saturday.
