...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Gray has issued a Heat Advisory,
which is in effect until 7 PM EDT this evening.

* Heat Index Values...95 to 105 due to temperatures in the mid
90s, and dewpoints in the lower 70s.

* Timing...Mid morning into the early afternoon hours.

* Impacts...The combination of heat and humidity will make it
difficult for the human body to regulate its temperature. Heat
stroke and heat exhaustion are possible for those spending
significant amounts of time exposed to the heat.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Heat Advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Drink plenty of fluids...stay in an air-conditioned
room...stay out of the sun...and check up on relatives and
neighbors, especially older adults who live alone, to make sure
they are able to stay cool.

People who work or exercise outside or in hot environments,
and children attending summer camps or outdoor sports practices
should take extra precautions. When possible...reschedule
strenuous activities to early morning. Know the signs and
symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight
and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of
water.
