High Surf Advisory

Coastal Hazard Message
National Weather Service Caribou ME
321 AM EDT Sat Sep 24 2022

MEZ029-030-242100-
/O.CON.KCAR.SU.Y.0002.000000T0000Z-220925T0300Z/
Coastal Hancock-Coastal Washington-
321 AM EDT Sat Sep 24 2022

...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...Large breaking waves of 5 to 8 feet expected in the
  surf zone.

* WHERE...Coastal Hancock and Coastal Washington Counties.

* WHEN...From 11 PM this evening to 11 PM EDT Saturday. The next
high tide at Bar Harbor is at 10:06 PM this evening, and again
at 10:32 AM Saturday morning and 10:45 PM Saturday evening.

* IMPACTS...High dangerous surf and strong rip currents will
make for hazardous surf conditions. Large waves can present a
danger to people on rocks above the water. Stay away from rock
outcrops along the shoreline exposed to ocean waves, as waves
can easily sweep people into the cold ocean water.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area...producing rip currents and localized beach
erosion.
