...Brief Period of Lakeshore Flooding Possible Through This
Morning into Early Afternoon...

Due to the record high water levels on Lake Erie, a brief period
of lakeshore flooding is possible late this morning into early
afternoon. Elevated east to northeast winds combined with a seiche
(slosh of the water back and forth in Lake Erie) is forcing water
levels to rise on the west end of the lake to around 68 inches
above water datum. Rising water levels will cause some minor
flooding across the Lake Erie shorelines of Wayne and Monroe
counties. Levels should start to come down and level out towards
the early afternoon.

Lakeshore Flood Warnings will only be issued when significant
long term flooding is expected. Persons with interest along the
lake shore should monitor the water levels today.
