This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of northeast
Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin.

.DAY ONE...Tonight

Areas of frost are possible tonight over parts of northern
Minnesota and a Frost Advisory has been issued.

High water levels will continue in the Rainy River Basin over far
northern Minnesota, as well as around the Island Lake Reservoir
and areas downstream on the Cloquet River, especially around Side
Lake and Hunter Lake. A Flood Warning remains in effect for the
for the Rainy River Basin as well as the Island Lake Reservoir and
areas downstream on the Cloquet River. Minor flooding will
continue along the Mississippi River between Aitkin and Fort
Ripley in Crow Wing County where Flood Warnings are in effect.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday

Water levels will remain high across many of the Northland`s
rivers, creeks, and streams, especially in the Rainy River Basin,
Island Lake Reservoir, Cloquet River, and the Mississippi Basin.

Morning temperatures near or below freezing will be possible this
weekend, particularly along the International Border, and frost
headlines may be needed again Saturday night and Sunday night.

...FLOOD WARNING FOR PROLONGED FLOODING IN THE RAINY RIVER BASIN...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt is occurring. Namakan
  Lake has already surpassed the level reached in the 2014 flood and is
  continuing to rise. Rainy Lake is expected to exceed the 2014 level.

* WHERE...Rivers and lakes within the Rainy River Basin including
  Lake Vermilion, Crane Lake, Namakan Lake, Kabetogama Lake and
  Rainy Lake.

* WHEN...Flooding is occurring now and is expected to continue for
  the next several days and weeks.

* IMPACTS...Strong lake level rises are ongoing. Flooding continues
  on areas lakes and rivers. Widespread impacts are ongoing for
  shoreline residents.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 335 PM CDT, Emergency management reported ongoing flooding
    across the warned area.
  - Lake levels on Namakan Lake are expected to rise 6 to 7
    inches between May 20th and May 27th. Namakan Lake inflows
    are expected to decline but remain high for the remainder of
    the month.
    Rainy Lake is expected to rise 12 inches between May
    20th and May 27th. The 2014 level on Rainy Lake will be
    exceeded early next week and continue at a slower rate beyond
    the 7 day forecast. Expect minimal rainfall amounts over the
    next 7 days.
  - Areas affected include Rainer, Island View, Voyageurs
    National Park, Crane Lake, Kabetogama Lake and Lake
    Vermilion.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Use extreme caution if venturing our on these water bodies as many
hazards exist.

...FROST ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM TO 9 AM CDT
SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Temperatures as low as 33 will result in frost
  formation.

* WHERE...North Itasca, Central St. Louis, Northern Cook and
  Lake, Koochiching, North St. Louis, South Itasca, North Cass
  and Southern Cook Counties. This includes the Tribal Lands of
  the Grand Portage Reservation and the Bois Forte Band, Deer
  Creek, Lake Vermilion and, Nett Lake areas.

* WHEN...From 1 AM to 9 AM CDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Frost could kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if
  left uncovered.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Areas right along the shore of Lake
  Superior may stay warmer, however much colder temperatures are
  expected inland.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 PM CDT SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Flooding continues but is subsiding on the Cloquet River.

* WHERE...A portion of northeast Minnesota, including the following
  county, St. Louis.

* WHEN...Until 200 PM CDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is occurring. Several structures are
  flooded and some sand bagging operations are continuing. Low-water
  crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 1028 AM CDT, The Cloquet River is receding from its crest.
    Releases from Island Lake Reservoir have been reduced and
    additional reductions are expected.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Boman Lake and Hunter Lake. Areas down stream adjacent to the
    Cloquet River.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
