At 545 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable
of producing winds to around 30 knots. These thunderstorms were
located along a line extending from 13 nm northwest of Grand Marais
Harbor to 11 nm north of Silver Bay Marina and Ore Dock, moving east
at up to 30 knots.
Locations impacted include...
Beaver Bay, Grand Portage Marina, Mouth Of The Cross River, Grand
Marais Harbor, Sugar Loaf Cove, Tofte Safe Harbor, Horseshoe Bay And
Safe Harbor, Silver Bay Marina and Ore Dock, Taconite Harbor, and
Tofte.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor
immediately until these storms pass.

Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms (a level 2 out of 5 risk) are possible this afternoon and evening over much of the Northland, with the best potential in central, north-central, and northeast Minnesota. The main hazards from storms are large hail up to golf ball size, damaging winds of 60 to 70 mph. Secondary hazards are a couple tornadoes possible and localized minor flooding. The main window of time for severe weather potential is 4 PM to 10 PM. Scattered non-severe thunderstorms linger into tonight. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday Patchy frost is possible Sunday night, especially for the typical cold spots where low temperatures are forecast to fall into the middle 30s.
