An Extreme Cold Warning remains in effect. Light lake effect snowfall is expected to produce 1 to 2 inches of snow for the Bayfield Peninsula today and tonight. Lighter amounts are expected for northern Iron, Ashland and Douglas counties. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday Dangerous wind chills and very cold temperatures persist through Tuesday morning. Extreme Cold Warnings continue until noon Tuesday. A couple inches of snow are possible along the North Shore Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... This includes the Tribal Lands of the Fond du Lac Band, the Grand Portage Reservation, the Mille Lacs Band, Hinckley, Lena Lake, East Lake and, Big Sandy Lake areas and the Bois Forte Band, Lake Vermilion, Nett Lake and, Deer Creek areas. Other locations including Voyageurs National Park. The entire Boundary Waters is also included. * WHEN...Until noon CST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 45 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. An extended period of very cold temperatures could cause ruptured water pipes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The coldest wind chill values will occur from late evening through late morning each day. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves or mittens if you must go outside. Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
