This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of central and
southern Minnesota, and west central Wisconsin.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening,
mainly northeast of the upper Minnesota River Valley. The risk for
severe weather is low, but locally heavy rain is possible.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday.

Afternoon and evening thunderstorm chances will continue through
Wednesday and return for Friday and Saturday. The risk for severe
weather is low but locally heavy rain is possible.

...AIR QUALITY ALERT NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH MIDNIGHT TONIGHT...

WHAT...The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has issued an Air
Quality Alert for fine particle pollution. The Air Quality Index
(AQI) is expected to reach the Orange or Unhealthy for Sensitive
Groups category.

WHERE...Central Minnesota.

WHEN...Through midnight tonight.

IMPACTS...Sensitive groups, such as people with lung disease
(including asthma), heart disease, and children and older adults,
may experience health effects.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A band of smoke from wildfires in Quebec is
currently over eastern Minnesota. Smoke will linger through the
day Monday before gradually dissipating Tuesday morning.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Sensitive groups, such as people with lung disease (including
asthma), heart disease, and children and older adults, should
limit prolonged or heavy exertion.

Reduce or eliminate activities that contribute to air pollution,
such as outdoor burning, and use of residential wood burning
devices. Reduce vehicle trips and vehicle idling as much as
possible.

Keep windows closed overnight to prevent smoke from getting
indoors.
