fatalities are vehicle related. As little as 6 inches of water may
cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Two feet of water will

  The Missouri River at Atchison.
* until Tuesday October 01.
* At  9:31 AM Monday the stage was 22.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 22.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 24.3 feet by
  Tuesday evening. The river will fall below flood stage Monday
  morning next week.
* At 22.0 feet...Low-lying areas on the Missouri side of the river
  begin to flood.

* At  9:30 AM Monday the stage was 21.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 22.4 feet by
  early Tuesday afternoon then begin falling.
* At 21.0 feet...Riverfront Park in St. Joseph begins to flood.
* At 19.0 feet...Backwater from the Missouri River floods property
  along the Nodaway river at Nodaway, Missouri.
* At 17.0 feet...Lowland flooding upstream and downstream from St.
  Joseph occurs.

This hazardous weather outlook is for northwest...north central and
west central Missouri...as well as extreme eastern Kansas.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Widespread dense fog with visibilities less than a quarter mile will
cause hazardous travel this morning. This fog is expected to
dissipate by late morning leaving a nice fall like day with no
hazards expected.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday

 Thunderstorms will form over Iowa Tuesday evening with strong to
severe storms moving into northern Missouri overnight into Wednesday
morning. Damaging winds would be the main threat with these storms as
they travel south. The next chance for rain will come Friday morning
as a cold front pushes through the area.
