...Threat of Heavy Rain and Flooding Next Week From The Remnants
of Tropical Storm Cristobal...

The remnants of Tropical Storm Cristobal are currently forecast to
move from the lower Mississippi Valley north-northeastward through
the center of Missouri from late Monday night through Tuesday.
This track will bring widespread and potentially heavy rainfall to
the region during this same time period.

Two to four inches of rain are currently forecast Monday night
into Tuesday night as the system impacts the region, with the
greatest rainfall amounts focused across Missouri. Depending on
the rate of the rainfall or how rapidly it falls, flash flooding
will be possible on small creeks and streams, low-lying areas, and
other flood prone locations.

Of equal or greater concern is the impact of the heavy rain on
the local river systems. If this amount of rainfall indeed occurs
as forecast, then we will likely experience minor and possibly
moderate flooding on a number of the rivers late Tuesday through
the end of next week. This river flooding would consist of both
renewed flooding on some of the rivers that are currently falling
as well as new flooding.
