This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of eastern and
central Missouri as well as west central and southwest Illinois.

.DAY ONE...Tonight.

Thunderstorms are likely across parts of eastern Missouri and
western Illinois through early this evening. A strong storm with
gusty winds is possible. Also a few storms could produce locally
heavy rain and localized flash flooding.

Major flooding is occurring along the Illinois River above Hardin.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.

There is a chance of thunderstorms across parts of the area Wednesday
through Thursday.

Major flooding is occurring along the Illinois River above Hardin.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotters are asked to relay any reports of flooding, rainfall greater
than 2 inches, or strong winds.

...The National Weather Service in St. Louis has issued a flood
warning for the following rivers in Missouri...

  Missouri River at Jefferson City
  Missouri River at Washington
  Osage River near Mari-Osa Campground

River forecasts are based on observed precipitation and forecast
precipitation for the next 24 hours.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Rainfall heavier than forecast could cause river levels to rise even
higher than predicted.  The National Weather Service will monitor
this developing situation and issue follow up statements as
conditions or forecasts change.

Safety message:  Never drive cars, trucks, or sport utility vehicles
through flooded areas.  The water may be too deep to allow for safe
passage.

The National Weather Service in St. Louis has issued a

* Flood Warning for
  the Missouri River at Jefferson City
* from Friday afternoon to Tuesday evening.
* At  9:45 AM Thursday the stage was 21.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 23.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* The river is forecast to rise above flood stage by tomorrow
  afternoon and crest near 24.7 feet by Sunday morning. The river is
  forecast to fall below flood stage by Monday afternoon.
* Impact:  At 24.5 feet...The Katy Trail Floods near Rocheport.
