Critical fire danger is expected today due to very strong south/southwest winds, low relative humidity values, and dry fuels. Sustained southerly winds of 20-30 mph with gusts of 40-50+ mph are forecast through tonight. There is a conditional risk of a couple of strong to severe thunderstorms from 1-5 PM in parts of west central and south-central Illinois.
