...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 345 AM CDT EARLY THIS
MORNING FOR NORTHEASTERN CAPE GIRARDEAU AND SOUTHEASTERN PERRY
COUNTIES...

At 1258 AM CDT, moderate rainfall was still falling over the warned
area. Radar and rain gauges show localized areas of up to 6 to 8
inches of rain has fallen since 8 pm in far northeastern Cape
Girardeau County. This water would flow to Apple Creek and vicinity
and locally significant flash flooding may be occurring.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
         drainage and low-lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Apple Creek, Missouri Highway C near Apple Creek, Shawneetown,
  Altenburg and Old Appleton.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of southern
Illinois, southwest Indiana, western Kentucky, and southeast
Missouri.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight

Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected to lift northeast
across the Quad State into evening hours. Isolated damaging winds
are still possible, but brief torrential rains will be the primary
impact.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday

Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected each afternoon
through Saturday. Isolated strong to severe storms are possible and
all storms will be capable of brief torrential rainfall.

Afternoon heat indices will climb into the 100 to 105 degree range
throughout the Quad State Wednesday through Friday.
