...WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE MONDAY NIGHT
THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING...

* WHAT...Winter precipitation causing moderate to major impacts is
  expected. Snow accumulations of 4 to 6 inches along and north of
  the I-10 and I-12 corridor and 1 to 3 inches south of this
  corridor. There is also a low chance of ice accumulations along
  and south of the I-10 and I-12 corridor.

* WHERE...Portions of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi.

* WHEN...From late Monday night through Tuesday evening.

* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
  likely become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road
  conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday
  morning and evening commutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this situation.

Consider delaying all travel. Motorists should use extreme caution
if travel is absolutely necessary. Consider taking a winter storm
kit along with you, including such items as tire chains, booster
cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing. Also take
water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help you
survive in case you become stranded.

* WHAT...Very cold wind chills expected this week. Southwest
  Mississippi and adjacent Louisiana Parishes should see wind chills
  10 to 15 degrees. The I-10/12 corridors and points south can
  expect wind chills 15 to 25 degrees.

* WHERE...Portions of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi.

* WHEN...For the first Cold Weather Advisory, from 6 PM Sunday to 9
  AM CST Monday. For the second Cold Weather Advisory, from 6 PM
  Monday to 6 PM CST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Hard freeze conditions are forecast for areas along and
  north if the I-12 corridor as well as southwest and coastal
  Mississippi.
  In addition, very cold temperatures and wind chills can lead to
  hypothermia if proper clothing is not worn.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.

Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and
unfrozen water.

Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.
