FOR THE BEACHES NORTH OF CAPE HATTERAS...

.A strong cold front will move through Eastern North Carolina
Tuesday afternoon. Strong northerly winds will develop behind the
front and continue into Wednesday. Minor soundside flooding will
be possible for areas adjacent to the southern Pamlico Sound.
Rough surf and minor beach erosion expected for the beaches north
of Cape Hatteras. Minor ocean overwash will be possible for areas
north of Cape Hatteras, especially in locations where dune
structures are vulnerable.

WEDNESDAY...

The National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City has issued
a High Surf Advisory, which is in effect from 7 PM Tuesday to
4 PM EST Wednesday. A Coastal Flood Advisory has also been
issued. This Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect from 7 PM
Tuesday to 1 PM EST Wednesday.

* HAZARDS...Minor soundside flooding possible for Hatteras Island.
  Rough surf, minor beach erosion and overwash possible for the
  beaches north Cape Hatteras.

* LOCATIONS...Outer Banks.

* TIMING...For the High Surf Advisory, from 7 PM Tuesday to 4 PM
  EST Wednesday. For the Coastal Flood Advisory, from 7 PM
  Tuesday to 1 PM EST Wednesday.

* SURF HEIGHT...6 to 9 feet.

* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Up to 1 to 2 feet of inundation above
  ground level is possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and
  tidal waterways resulting in a low threat of property damage.
  Some roads and low lying property including parking lots, parks,
  lawns, and homes adjacent to the waterfront will experience
  shallow flooding.

* SHORELINE IMPACTS...Rough surf, minor beach erosion and ocean
  overwash will be possible for the beaches north of Cape
  Hatteras.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area, producing localized beach erosion and
dangerous swimming conditions.

A Coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
