This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of southwest
Iowa...west central Iowa...east central Nebraska...northeast
Nebraska and southeast Nebraska.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Bitterly cold wind chills of 25 to 35 below zero are expected
through mid-day. Extreme cold warnings and cold weather
advisories are in effect.

Another round of snow will push across southeast Nebraska near
the Kansas border. Additional accumulations of 0-2 inches will be
possible. The highest accumulations will be along the Nebraska-
Kansas border with snow chances decreasing northward.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday

Bitterly cold wind chills are expected over a prolonged period
from Wednesday through Friday. Cold weather watches, advisories,
and warnings will continue through the week.

Spotters are encouraged to report snowfall amounts to the National
Weather Service in Omaha.

...EXTREME COLD WARNING WILL EXPIRE AT NOON CST TODAY...

* WHAT...For the Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills as low
  as 29 below expected. For the Extreme Cold Watch, dangerously cold
  wind chills as low as 31 below possible.

* WHERE...In Iowa, Harrison, Mills, Montgomery, Pottawattamie,
  Shelby, and Monona Counties. In Nebraska, Douglas, Sarpy, and
  Washington Counties.

* WHEN...For the Cold Weather Advisory, from 6 PM this evening to
  noon CST Wednesday. For the Extreme Cold Watch, from Wednesday
  afternoon through Thursday morning.

* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero
  could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.
  Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is
  exposed to these temperatures.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...With slick road conditions, travelers may
  become stranded and be exposed to the dangerously cold
  temperatures.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must
go outside.

Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.

Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.
