This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of southwest
Iowa...west central Iowa...east central Nebraska...northeast
Nebraska and southeast Nebraska.

.DAY ONE...Tonight and Tuesday

Light snow will continue this evening, with additional
accumulations expected under half an inch. Bitterly cold wind chills
of 25 to 35 below zero are expected tonight into Tuesday morning.
Extreme cold warnings and cold weather advisories are in effect.

Another round of snow will push in during the overnight period and
continue into Tuesday, especially across southeast Nebraska near
the Kansas border. Additional accumulations of 2 to 4 inches will
be possible. The highest accumulations will be along the
Nebraska- Kansas border with snow chances decreasing northward.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday night through Monday

Bitterly cold wind chills are expected over a prolonged period
from Tuesday night through Friday. An extreme cold watch
continues, and additional cold weather advisories and warnings
will eventually be needed.

Spotters are encouraged to report snowfall amounts to the National
Weather Service in Omaha.

THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...For the Extreme Cold Warning, dangerously cold wind chills
  of 30 to 36 below expected. For the Extreme Cold Watch,
  dangerously cold wind chills as low as 33 below possible.

* WHERE...Portions of southwest and west central Iowa and east
  central, northeast, and southeast Nebraska.

* WHEN...For the Extreme Cold Warning, from 9 PM this evening to
  noon CST Tuesday. For the Extreme Cold Watch, from Tuesday
  afternoon through Thursday morning.

* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 35 below zero
  could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.
  Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is
  exposed to these temperatures.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must
go outside.

Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.
