This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of western and
north central Nebraska.

.DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT.

Hot temperatures will create heat index values over 100 degrees
this afternoon.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY.

Hot temperatures will create heat index values over 100 degrees
again Wednesday afternoon.

There will be a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms and
excessive rainfall for portions of western Nebraska Thursday and
Thursday night.

The chances for thunderstorms will continue through the weekend
though the potential for severe weather and excessive rainfall
are uncertain at this time.

...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM CDT /8 PM MDT/
WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 104.

* WHERE...Portions of central, north central, panhandle,
  southwest and west central Nebraska.

* WHEN...Until 9 PM CDT /8 PM MDT/ Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses to occur.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...These high heat index values will occur
  again on Wednesday before cooler weather arrives for Thursday
  and beyond.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young
children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circumstances.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent
rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone
overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
