This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of north and central
New Mexico.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

A Red Flag Warning is in effect this afternoon and early evening for
much of the forecast area where low relative humidity values
combined with strong winds will create critical fire weather
conditions.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday

Isolated showers with a few dry thunderstorms are possible Friday
afternoon and early evening. Moderate to strong northwest winds will
develop for all areas Friday afternoon.

...RED FLAG WARNING FOR THE NORTHWEST AND WEST CENTRAL HIGHLANDS,
MIDDLE RIO GRANDE VALLEY, SANDIA/MANZANO AND GALLINAS MOUNTAINS,
NORTHEAST HIGHLANDS, AND THE NORTHEAST AND EAST CENTRAL PLAINS
THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING DUE TO STRONG WIND, LOW HUMIDITY
AND AN UNSTABLE ATMOSPHERE...

.Southwest winds will become strong across much of the forecast
area today, and widespread critically low humidities are
expected. Haines Indices will reach 6 in most places. High
temperatures will reach near normal central and east, with
readings a little below normal west of the Rio Grande Valley.

...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 8 PM MDT
THIS EVENING...

* AREA AND TIMING...Northeast Highlands and Plains, East Central
  Plains, and the Sandia, Manzano and Gallinas Mountains this
  afternoon and early evening.

* 20 FOOT WINDS...Southwest winds 20 mph to 30 mph with gusts to
  40 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...6 to 13 percent below significant snow
  pack.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
  Outdoor burning is not recommended.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Please advise the appropriate officials or fire crews in the
field of this Red Flag Warning.
